Doctor of Physical Therapy & Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Alexandra “Alex” Vandegrift is a licensed physical therapist at Oceanside Physical Therapy in Stuart, FL, specializing in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and hip preservation. Her approach blends clinical expertise, personal experience, and strength-based programming to help patients move confidently and perform at their highest level.

A Personal Journey That Inspires Her Work

As a Division I soccer player, Alex experienced the reality of high-level injuries firsthand — including femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) with a labral tear and a later core muscle injury. Navigating her own recovery revealed a gap in specialized, hip-focused rehab available to competitive athletes, shaping her commitment to providing the care she once needed herself.

Her rehabilitation experience at Oceanside Physical Therapy strengthened her passion for high-quality, patient-centered care and ultimately influenced her decision to return as a clinician.

    Education & Professional Training

Alex earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from South College in Knoxville, where she focused on orthopedics, movement science, and sports performance.

She expanded her athletic and clinical foundation through advanced rotations, including hands-on training with MLS Houston Dynamo FC, where she gained real-world experience in:

    • Professional athlete management
    • ACL rehabilitation
    • Return-to-sport protocols
    • High-level performance progressions
